They are used in conjunction with each other when plowing. Your tractor probably has two levers controlling up and down on the 3ph, a "draft" lever and a "position control" lever. Harry Ferguson invented it, and Henry Ford stole it after their infamous "handshake" deal. A valve in the top (center) link senses when increased down pressure is applied as the plow is "sucked" into the ground and corrects by applying up pressure, theoretically maintaining a consistent depth no matter if the soil is hard or soft. Draft is only for soil engaging implements, like bottom plows and chisel plows.

If you look in the other manual (Paragraph 344, PDF page 128) you will find that the hydraulic lift unit was updated September 16, 1969. The 2000-7000 manual was, apart from the "New Model Supplement", printed in 1966. It is a mess, and this is only the beginning, but a Super Dexta 3000 agricultural tractor is the same as an early (6X) 3000 agricultural tractor, and they are both 3100. Other chassis types, like the Utility type had the complete model name on the decals, 34. There were some other chassis types that also had the 1000-series name on the decals, so you need to find the model code stamped on the tractor to find out what you have. A 3000 All Purpose Agricultural has 310, and the model is called 3100 in parts lists and manuals. The first three numbers in the model code are made up of the first model digit and the chassis number. The most common type was All Purpose Agricultural, and the chassis number was 10. In this supplement there are also Chassis type mentioned. I think that in your 2000-7000 manual, there is a "New Model Supplement" that explains some of the changes that the 1000-series went through when the 1000-series was revised (6Y). Dexta was the smallest Fordson, so the smallest 1000-series 2000 became Dexta 2000, 3000 became Super Dexta 3000, and so on. However, the 1000-series tractors had very little in common with the Fordsons, just a few minor parts. The first tractors of the 1000-series (the ones made in Europe at least) had old Fordson model names added to their 1000-series name, to give the customers a feeling of developed popular models.
